Evergreen Website Design

As a semester project, my team and I were asked to design a magazine business plan which contained design elements that feature a theme of our choice. We came up with Evergreen. A eco-friendly magazine that informs sustainability-living across Canada.

Dividing our tasks as team, I was responsible for designing the website for our magazine business. In addition, I concentrated on adding elements that make up our overall niche such as the dark green colour and modern sans-serif front. These design choices not only contribute in enlightening our content but complement our content with aesthetic visuals.

Purpose

The purpose of the Evergreen website is to provide a story-telling experience about the background, values, and additional means to connect with Evergreen. It serves as a platform that extends from the print/digital magazine, providing readers with short service and fun articles, relevant short blog posts and opinion pieces posted at least every other day. There is no paywall for these articles as the goal is to keep Evergreen content alive between issues. The website also allows readers to contribute their own written pieces and the opportunity to engage with each other through discussion boards. On our website, we will generate revenue through an e-commerce page that sells Evergreen merchandise such as reusable shopping bags, reusable straws and reusable water bottles. Opening room for ad spaces and sponsorships distributed through web pages will also be a source of revenue through the web channel.
